Umbrella Training’s CEO Adele Oxberry featured in The Caterer
Our chief executive and founder Adele Oxberry had the opportunity to give comment and feature in this month’s copy of The Caterer, as part of a an article titled ‘The Bright Side of Brexit.’
The feature gives a view on the impact of Brexit on the hospitality industry, and how Brexit and the pandemic are encouraging hospitality operators to take a more sustainable and home-grown approach to their staffing needs. We believe that the Kickstart Scheme will play a vital role in supporting businesses with recruitment over the coming months and urge employers to build it into their recovery strategy. The scheme offers a no-cost way to employ young people as the sector reopens and demand increases.

The Kickstart Scheme
We are well underway in supporting businesses across a variety of sectors, helping them access government funding with the Kickstart Scheme.
The scheme, which is designed to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year-olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment, offers employers the chance to train up new team members and is a way to revitalise sectors that will need to bounce back quickly as part its recovery out of COVID.
Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:
100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months
associated employer National Insurance contributions
employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions
Up to £1,500 per job placement for setup costs, support and training
Employers can spread the start date of the job placements up until the end of December 2021
