Jonathan is known as ‘the perfectionist’ at Umbrella. He will not compromise on quality, after all, his job experiences have all been working in 5 star and luxury properties - from Florence to London.

Jonathan says “I always tell my learners that apprenticeships can open doors that they can’t even imagine. Depending on how much hard work they put in, they can shape their future. I talk from experience. I received so much praise after delivering my first ever business project presentation for my VRQ qualification, that it sparked a fire in me. I was a receptionist at that time, but in that moment, I realised that L&D was going to be my future career.”

Raised in the stunning Puglia region, in Southern Italy, Jonathan learned all about the value of hard work, starting his first job during the summer at the age of 13, in a dusty hotel laundry. After more than 10 years’ experience in operational roles in hospitality; from the pot-wash to a kitchen porter, Jonathan started discovering his passion for training others at very early stage. Whilst working in a boutique hotel when he was put forward as a departmental coach, to train new colleagues. He managed to instil his contagious passion for quality service, which resulted in those new staff moving up to management roles in a short space of time.

Jonathan soon moved into a hotel-based L&D role which gave him the confidence just two years later, to move into the education sector and consequently starting at Umbrella Training as a Learning and Development Manager.  After less than two years with the company, his natural instinct to lead others and strive for excellence and his attention to detail along with his enthusiasm for teaching, he was promoted to his current role as Curriculum Lead.

When Jonathan is not in the training room, holding a lecture or coaching the team, you can find him with his husband, in his ‘digitally smart home’ Obsessed with technology, he surrounds himself with Apple devices and the latest gadgets out there.
