British Values: Pride! What is it?

In life and in the workplace, having pride is great.

It shows that you are proud of your accomplishments on a personal and professional level, and it allows you to progress forward with more lived experience, in turn sharing that with your peers and more positive experiences coming from that.

In the 21st century, things are a lot more accepting of anything that was once seen as out of the “norm”.

People are more open-minded about different things and want to educate themselves, and this allows safe spaces to be created and available to those who may seek it.

These spaces can be in the form of afterschool clubs, community centers, and online communities on different social media platforms; anywhere people can go to express themselves and their pride, connect with others who feel similar, and somewhere where they don’t have to feel isolated from those who may not understand them.

Being a part of the community myself and being proud of who I am. Pride in myself and pride within my workplace, to me, go hand in hand.

Having the support around me from friends, family, work colleagues, and myself, allows me to grow and change for the better as a person, and being able to share my pride with others around me fills me with a huge sense of achievement knowing that I may be able to positively influence even just one person, which would make the world of a difference.
