Build the Future: Apprenticeship case study.

How MGallery Hotel Collection are using apprenticeships to build a workforce with future-ready skills.

The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2021 is “Build the Future” so we wanted to share how MGallery Hotel Collection has used apprenticeships to motivate their team whilst developing their skills and knowledge during each lockdown.

Shama Tanvir, Cluster Talent and Culture Manager tells their story…

When we went into lockdown in March 2020, our talent wellbeing was our number one priority.

We have kept in touch with our teams every week, offering a consistent approach in many areas, hoping we positively impact their social and mental wellbeing.  We encouraged our talents to keep learning, focus on themselves and utilise this time well.

During the past 10 months, almost 25 team members have joined an apprenticeship programme – with more joining as we speak!

The courses have varied from Hospitality Team Member Level 2, Learning and Development Practitioner, Hospitality Manager Level 4, and up to Operations Manager Level 5.

Meet MGallery apprentice Natalija

Hotel: Castle Hotel – MGallery Windsor

Apprenticeship: Hospitality Team Member, Level 2

In the very early days of lockdown, Natalija, our Food and Beverage talent from the Castle Hotel – MGallery Windsor, had started her Level 2 apprenticeship course.

Natalija was unable to spend Lockdown 1.0 with her family, the pandemic created physical distance from loved ones and Natalija was suddenly living alone.

She made the decision to learn via the Hospitality Team Member, Level 2 course. Through Lockdown 2 and Lockdown 3, she has continued her learning. She is starting her end point assessment very soon and is due to graduate in April!

At the MGallery Hotel Collection, our vision is to build the future through the growth of our talents.

We want our talents to gain the skills they need and make a real impact in their roles.

On completion of an apprenticeship, the journey continues! There is always more learning, and in the case of Natalija, she knows exactly what she wants to do next!
